I started my journey in healing work many years ago. Learning about herbs and ceremony while sitting in a musty old used book store. It took a few years before the true path of healing work opened up before me. In March of 2004 I finally took the plunge and started the Therapeutic Massage 9 month program at SpaTech. I was hooked the first minute of the first day of class! The human body fascinated me. I soaked up as much information and technique as I possibly could. I loved it and I was good at it! While I was there I heard about Polarity Therapy. I was thirsty for more knowledge and the idea of integrating the physical body with the energetic body fascinated me even more, so I enrolled into the RPP Polarity Therapy Program the next year. I met a student who had just received their Reiki Master and asked if I was interested in Reiki. Of course I was, so she took me under her wing and taught me. With her I received my Reiki I and II attunements. After that year I still felt like I had just nicked the surface. So, a month after I finished the Polarity program(2006) I went in search of what was next for me to learn.... I opened the classes page of the local holistic periodical and found an ad for a Shamanic Apprenticeship with Dory Cote. I had no idea what this was but based on the short description I felt I was qualified to take this... after all I just finished a class on Polarity Therapy! I convinced her I could do it and she set up time for me to learn how to do a Shamanic journey. I have shifted many many times and continue to shift as my personal practice and connection to our world deepens. I have taken many apprenticeships and weekend workshops since.. in all looking for understanding of the world and in myself. During that time I became a Doula and started to attend births! This was wildly fulfilling, the experience of birth is the very center of spirit work itself! One day about 5 years into my practice I decided I need some structure, so I started working at a local salon/spa(2009). There was so much to learn about running a business and customer service. I also enhanced my skills with aesthetics and natural nail care. I became acquainted with Dr. Hauschka products and loved their philosophy. They used whole herbs to achieve balance in your skin and to your spirit! I spent a little more than 6 years taking in business skills and spa experience. During my time at the spa I received my Reiki Master and continued those attunements with Lightarian Reiki(2013).
In July of 2015 a new adventure was before me. I opened my own healing space! I was scared! I had little more than a massage table and some sheets, but little by little I created a little world where my clients could come and relax. A place where I could do any of the modalities of healing I had learned! It wasn't long before I met a new teacher! Christine Angel, she had her office just down the hall from me and she did something that caught my eye, Arvigo Mayan abdominal Therapy. Little did I know I was about to embark on a new journey working on belly's and the pelvic floor! It brought with it the Spiritual ceremony of the Mayan Spiritual Bath, body work from ancient times handed down to Don Elijio Panti who taught it to Rosita Arvigo who enhanced the work with science, anatomy and love, it also brought the energy and healing of the herbs and trees of Belize. When I took the Self Care Class it was like they had written this class just for me... Massage, energy work, and Herbs!!! I have since taken almost all the classes they offer... I may some day venture into the world of teaching this practice, only time will tell. I continue to expand my knowledge learning Bach Flower Remedies in 2 levels, Kinesio taping, Gua-sha, cupping, pelvic floor and soft tissue palpation. Needless to say I love the work that I do, I follow the path of healing for the betterment of myself and as a gift to you!
Health is not merely of the body. It is the natural expression of the body, mind and soul when they are in rhythm with the One Life. True health is the harmony of life within us, consisting of peace of mind, happiness and well-being. It is not merely a question of physical fitness, but is rather a result of the soul finding free expression through the mind and body of the individual.
